Tecumseh Carburetor Info

Here is a picture of a Tecumseh bowl nut off the bottom of a carburetor assembly.

Notice Just above the gasket is the fuel inlet ports in the nut, these should be clean and open all the way through to the other side, if you lift the nut up you should be able to look clear through to the other side.

There is a small opening on the side of the nut near the top that feeds the low speed circuit of the carburetor.  The location of this orifice is indicated by the arrow in this picture of the bowl nut.

If you look down into the bowl nut you can see the metering jet in the middle of nut, this is the final orifice that must be clean to deliver fuel up through the nozzle.

The nozzle can be seen in this carburetor protruding up into the throat of the carburetor, it is blue in color, the nozzle must also be clean and the passage must be open all the way through.

You can see the bottom of the nozzle in this picture, it is surrounded by an O-Ring seal, these seals can deteriorate and leak, causing the engine to be hard to start, run lean, surge or run and die.  The nozzle can be removed from the carburetor and has an upper and lower O-Ring that may require replacement.

This is what the nozzle looks like when its been removed from the carburetor, you can see the upper and lower O-Rings installed.  The nozzle is positioned in this picture with the lower end to the left and the upper end that extends up into the throat of the carburetor on the right.  If the O-Rings on the nozzle do not seal in the carburetor, fuel will not be drawn properly up the tube and into the carburetor.  Solvents in fuel can cause the O-Rings to deteriorate and leak.
